“I first came upon Lake Lure by sheer happenstance, though I now believe it was fate. The natural beauty of this place immediately captivated me, and I knew it was where I wanted to be. It’s a place steeped in history, where the mountains meet the water, and the sense of community is palpable. Lake Lure has a way of drawing people in, and I felt its pull strongly.

One of the most significant experiences I’ve had here was being part of the project to move and restore Russell’s Fort. This historic structure, once hidden away and at risk of being lost to time, deserved to be brought back to life. When we embarked on the journey to preserve it, I knew we were doing something special for the community—giving future generations a connection to the past that they might not have otherwise known.

In working with the Barnwood Builders cast & crew, we had the privilege of collaborating with artisans who understand the importance of preservation and craftsmanship. Their expertise in timber framing and historical restoration made the process not only smoother but more meaningful. They share the same passion for preserving the past while integrating it into the present, and I’m incredibly proud of what we accomplished together.

However, there is more work to be done in preserving Lake Lure. The lake, just like the fort, is a key part of the area’s legacy. In recent times, Hurricane Helene has dealt a significant blow to this beautiful community, but I believe we can rebuild stronger than before. This is where I ask for your support.

The RestoreLakeLure.com campaign is meant to ease the burden of local residents and lakeside businesses who are providing personal resources to assist with lake restoration efforts.  The funds raised will not only help restore the lake to its former glory but also ensure that future generations can enjoy its beauty and the rich history of the area, just as we have.
