A word from our RestoreLakeLure.com Champion, George Carter

“I first came across Lake Lure almost 20 years ago on what was supposed to be a short weekend getaway. But as anyone who’s ever been here knows, there’s something magical about this place. From the serene mornings where the fog rolls across the water to the breathtaking sunsets framed by the surrounding Blue Ridge Mountains, Lake Lure pulls you in. What started as a weekend trip turned into a lifelong passion — not just for the area but for helping others discover this hidden gem.

I’ve been in real estate for over 15 years, and in all that time, I’ve never encountered a community quite like Lake Lure. There’s a charm and connection here that’s hard to put into words. It’s not just about the beautiful lakefront homes, the hiking trails, or the recreational activities — although they’re certainly a draw. It’s the people. There’s a shared understanding that living here is a privilege, and that privilege comes with a responsibility to protect and preserve this incredible environment.

That’s why I’m personally supporting the efforts behind RestoreLakeLure.com, a campaign aimed at raising critical funds for the restoration of Lake Lure. This initiative is about more than just maintaining a lake; it’s about bridging the gap between governmental support and the personal sacrifices our local families are making. When natural disasters like Hurricane Helene hit, the aftermath leaves more than just a physical mark. It tests the resilience of a community. But the people of Lake Lure have always risen to the challenge, and now, we need to come together once more.

Every donation to the Restore Lake Lure campaign helps ease the financial burden on our neighbors and ensures that Lake Lure continues to be the oasis we all love — a place where future generations can swim, fish, and create memories for years to come. I encourage everyone, whether you’re a full-time resident, a visitor, or simply someone who believes in the power of community, to lend your support.

We’ve all been touched by Lake Lure in some way, and now it’s time for us to give back. Together, we can restore the beauty and vitality of this special place.”

Sincerely,

George Carter
